Cleaning pistons with ultrasound

Deposits of soot carbon and oil sludge on the engine piston deteriorate the operating characteristics and reduce the service life.

When reconditioning an engine, all engine parts must be cleaned.

With ultrasonic cleaning, this can be done thoroughly and in a time-saving manner.

For the ultrasonic cleaning of engine parts, BANDELIN offers a cleaning solution that has proven itself with many users in the automotive sector. The disassembled parts are placed in a SONOREX SUPER ultrasonic bath with the biodegradable cleaning concentrate TICKOPUR R 33 for a few minutes at 50 - 60 °C and the dirt deposits are gently removed in an environmentally friendly manner. The ultrasound creates microscopically small bubbles which, when they implode, gently remove the dirt even from hard-to-reach places.

After cleaning in the ultrasonic bath, the piston and connecting rod are rinsed under running tap water and gently dried, e.g. with compressed air or a soft cloth. The cleaned piston can then be reassembled.

This gentle cleaning method significantly improves the operating behaviour after engine maintenance, saving time and costs. Ultrasonic baths in various sizes as well as a wide range of accessories are available for a high cleaning volume.

In addition to cleaning pistons and connecting rods, the ultrasonic unit can also be used for many other cleaning applications in the workshop. These include the cleaning of spark plugs, injection nozzles, filters, fittings, screws and many more.
