What does the daily work in the department look like?

The development department comprises 11 employees, including 5 electronics developers.
Project work is largely carried out independently, i.e.: 1 developer is responsible for electronics and firmware/software in a project, often in close cooperation with a design engineer, depending on the size of the project. Colleagues are happy to support with expertise if required. Innovations and new approaches are welcome, we give developers a lot of freedom.
On joining the company, the new developer will be trained by a senior developer in the shared office.
We work in an agile way, but without a strict methodology, and have been doing so for decades:

  • Well-functioning products and components are more important than perfect documentation
  • Employees and their solutions to problems are more important than processes. We do not define competence boundaries.
  • We develop in appropriately short loops (in order to test new things, find errors quickly and implement new findings promptly)
  • We foster cooperation between all employees on an equal footing, all paths are short.

It is particularly important to us that the candidate
  • (after familiarisation) is able and willing to work independently to a high degree
  • can and wants to develop electronics as well as firmware (/software) from the idea through testing to series production and maintenance
  • understands electronics/firmware/software as part of a product and can derive requirements (this includes analytical thinking)
  • Can communicate in German and understands German (development) documents.
Working from home is possible on two days per month. There are exceptions depending on the area of activity and other circumstances. But with developers in particular, we often need to be present to quickly clarify questions from production. And it is often necessary to work together on test set-ups or when tinkering with customised solutions.

What does the recruitment process look like?

For the application, we schedule an on-site appointment with the team and department manager, including a short tour of the company.
In the further process, we usually offer a "taster day" lasting several hours to get to know close colleagues, typical work tasks, working methods, potential for improvement and the working atmosphere. We have only had positive feedback on this approach.
An online appointment is possible before the first on-site meeting if required.

On joining the company, the new developer will be trained by a senior developer in the shared office.
